Alison was admitted to practice in 1996 and specialises in insurance litigation including public liability, workers compensation and property damage claims, representing defendants in Queensland and in New South Wales.
Her clients include insurers, self insurers, government owned corporations and government instrumentalities.
Alison has extensive experience in workers compensation and general liability and specialises in asbestos litigation in both Queensland Courts and in the Dust Diseases Tribunal of NSW.
Her workers compensation experience includes representing employers in both statutory and common law workers compensation claims under the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act (‘WCRA’). She also has extensive experience in workers compensation claims in the Commonwealth jurisdiction under the Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Act (SRC Act) representing employers in matters before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (‘the AAT’) and the Federal Court of Australia.
Her public liability work includes personal injury claims under the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act (PIPA) arising out of product defects, slip and trips, assaults, alcohol related incidents, and labour hire injuries. Alison represents clients in both the pre-proceedings stage as well as when litigated. She also represents clients in property damage claims including damage to infrastructure and buildings from flood and fire.
Alison also has a substantial recovery practice involving the recovery of repair/replacement costs, damages and statutory compensation from third party tortfeasors including the manufacturers and suppliers of products.
Alison regularly provides in-house training and seminars to legal counsel and claims officers on recent developments and claim strategies.
