Maureen has over 12 years’ experience in handling personal injuries and CTP claims as well as conducting insurance litigation. This includes significant experience in managing defendant CTP litigation both in Queensland and New South Wales.
Maureen commenced her legal career in a mid-sized Brisbane law firm, where she became familiar with the provisions of several statutory compensation schemes through acting on behalf of injured plaintiffs across various areas of insurance litigation, including matters arising from motor vehicle accidents, workplace accidents and public liability claims. For the last eight years, Maureen has practised exclusively in the area of CTP insurance litigation, defending both complex and general claims on behalf of various major Australian insurers in both Queensland and New South Wales, allowing her to develop across-the-board understanding of the CTP schemes operating in both jurisdictions.
Maureen’s day-to-day practice involves the defence of a wide range of CTP claims of varying complexity, including those that involve complicated liability and quantum issues, as well as others involving intoxication issues, dependency claims, indemnity disputes or multiple defendants. She also has experience in the defence of catastrophic injury claims.
Maureen is experienced in bringing matters to early resolution where possible, but has also been successful in achieving favourable outcomes for her clients at trial, both in the District Court at Brisbane and in North Queensland.
She is focussed on ensuring her clients’ matters are brought to resolution as cost-effectively and expeditiously as possible, relying on her experience and thorough, but practical approach to file management to achieve favourable outcomes for her clients.
