Chris has specialised in defending personal injury claims for 13 years. He is experienced in handling various categories of insurance litigation, including compulsory third party, workers compensation, employment law, public liability and commercial debt recovery.

In his current CTP and workers compensation practice, Chris acts for five major CTP insurers as well as three of the five licensed workers compensation insurers in the ACT. In a number of instances, some of his clients based other than in Canberra utilise Chris exclusively to manage their ACT CTP claims. He also acts for several self insurers.

Chris has secured positive outcomes on behalf of his clients in a number of complex disputes on legislative interpretation, including privilege, disclosure and costs issues in relation to the Workers Compensation Act 1951 (ACT), the Civil Law (Wrongs) Act 2002 (ACT) and the Road Transport (Third-Party Insurance) Act 2008 (ACT).

In addition, Chris has acted for insurers in advising on new legislation and in compliance projects and often advises clients on complex policy and indemnity issues, including cross-border and choice of law issues in the context of their business operations in the ACT. He also regularly delivers authoritative advice on appropriate ways to utilise credit issues to facilitate commercial settlements.

In resolving matters, Chris’s proactive approach is characterised by his strong negotiation skills and focus on achieving commercially sound and timely resolutions on behalf of his clients.
