Roger is a leading workers compensation lawyer, having practised exclusively in this area for over 20 years. He has a comprehensive understanding of the compensation regulatory framework, as well as extensive experience in dealing with workers compensation regulators.

Roger regularly acts for most major Australian workers compensation insurers plus many self-insured private sector employers. He has acted for various parties in several notable personal injury common law matters, many of which involved multiple jurisdictions and cross-border issues.

Prior to joining Moray & Agnew in mid-2017, Roger was a Partner in another leading Australian insurance law firm for seven years, and a Special Counsel in the workers compensation team at a global commercial firm.

Roger has also worked on secondment with WorkCover ACT, where he played a significant role in developing and drafting amendments to legislation relating to the ACT workers compensation scheme.

Major matters

  • Roger acted for the successful insurer in the leading ACT Supreme Court decision of Avon Products Pty Ltd v Falls, regarding the determination of the ‘State or Territory of connection’ of an injured worker.
